Gary got his start in racing at age 6 in Quarter Midgets. Over the next seven years he stacked up 7 regional championships, 33 track records and a Western Grand National Championship in 1993. In the fall of '94 the Taylor's purchased a 250 Micro Sprint and through '97 Gary picked up 22 A-Feature wins at tracks the Northwest. From there the next step was a trip to Jimmy Sills driving school and on into 360 sprint car racing. Over the next few years Gary gained valuable experience while competing in the Northern Sprint Tour and won features at Grays Harbor Raceway Park and at State Fair Speedway in Yakima, Washington. In 2002 Gary relocated from Snohomish, WA to Wheat Ridge, CO. The 2003 season was a good one for Gary on the Conklin team. Gary finished 2nd in RMMRA points behind teammate Kenny Lewis and earned his first midget A-Main win in just his 6th start. 2004 proved to be even better:

In 2005 the Conklin team focused primarily on 360 Winged Sprint Car racing, but also ran very well in a limited number of Midget, and 410 Sprint Car Starts. In '05 Gary finished the season with:
2005 ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Champion 3 A-Main wins with the series, including the final 2 events of the season to win the championship
360 Sprint Car A-Main win at Rocky Mountain National Speedway
Northern Sprint Tour A-Main win in very first night driving for the Scott Pierce team based out of Seattle, WA
2 RMMRA Midget A-Main wins, followed by a 2nd and a 3rd in the other two midget starts with the Gateway Midget series.
3 Starts with the World of Outlaws, which included a 10th and 12th qualifying effort, a heat race win, and a 5th place Dash performance.
Heat race win at the '05 Chili Bowl, and a 12th place preliminary A-main finish
Total = 7 Feature wins, 19 top 5's, and 26 top 10's in 38 starts





In 2006 Harry wanted to do more racing close to home with the midget. Gary and the team had amazing success with the races scheduled on the asphalt, with an impressive record of 10 wins in 11 starts, that 11th start being a second place finish. Gary also ran a moderate sprint car schedule, and had a great season in the sprint car as well:

Gary's resume now has wins in a variety of open wheel cars, and shows his versatility and ability to quickly adapt to new tracks and conditions. In adult competition he now has: 19 Winged Sprint Car wins (2 ASCS Nat.), 3 Non Wing Sprint Car wins, 13 Dirt Midget wins, 10 Asphalt Midget wins and 1 600cc Tulsa Shootout Win.. at various tracks in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Washington, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and New Mexico.. and championships in both a midgets and a winged sprint cars. Gary is currently a machinist by trade, but would love the chance to further a career in racing, and one day do it for a living.
